Pardon the Pause

As all of us are probably fully aware, life can be overwhelming. With the world slowly coming back awake from quarantine, it has catapulted many people into situations that a year and a half ago were completely normal but now seems beyond uncomfortable. When quarantine started the introvert in me was screaming YESSSS!! After months of constant travel for work, it was a sigh of relief to spend my days at home, sleeping in my own bed, eating my own food, cuddling with my pup at all hours of the day, and having a nice glass of wine to wind down my day with my man.

Roll back the tiers and pull back the shades, there is a whole other world reopening out there. With those changes I recently had the choice, yes choice, to attend an in-person event with some clients at our corporate office. With the magnitude of the meetings I instantly knew that in person couldn’t be replaced virtually. I got excited! A real in-person event and I’m vaccinated!! Woohoo!! I get to travel again!

Then…. the panic set in…. What did I do?? My mind of course started reeling…

Do I have to leave my house?

Fear started creeping in, what about Gus? He is so used to me being at home and having his lay of the land inside and outside. Now his new normal is going to be abruptly changed for an entire week! Ok reality check, he is a dog, he will be fine, I will be fine, everything is fine. We got this! We can adult again. I mean I have been itching to travel for some months now so time to pull out the big girl panties. Oh, wait…… Queue my mind spiraling out of control to the next topic.

What do I wear??

While I didn’t gain the Covid 19 I can count on both hands how many times I have worn “real” pants since being grounded to work from home. PJ’s, yoga pants, comfy shorts, and house dresses are my jam! Gone are the days of buying an expensive pair of jeans and enter the new realm of loungewear. Who can’t get behind that?? With a slight weight gain my summer clothes, which I prefer to wear in layers with clients because while I don’t get nervous I tend to sweat, and they are not super comfy. Enter Rent the Runway for the win!!! Guys… why have I not tried this sooner? Super cute stylish clothes and I am not spending a fortune. Whew ok… that was one less thing I had to worry about.

Wait I have to wear makeup again?

I rarely wear makeup unless I am in a professional setting. Let’s be real while it is fun to cover up blemishes putting on makeup is kind of tedious. Since it’s been so long since I have worn any it was time to trash the old and get some new. Now, this part actually got me excited since I had revamped my skincare routine last year. Hellooooo Ulta! Oh crap….look at these eyebrows!

Somebody call the salon!

Uhhhhhh these eyebrows guys, this hair, wait my bangs are as long as my face, these toenails!! Time to schedule some appointments! With the closures, I hadn’t been to have any of my normal appointments. With the rush of all these appointments and the short time to get them done I started to wonder with everything on my list to do before I leave, would I be able to get it all done?  Don’t worry I did and these brows……… On point! Thank god cause Chewbacca was starting to say we are cousins.

Wait where’s my luggage?

Somewhere buried in my closet are my travel bags which I am very serious about. If you don’t believe me check out my post. I did so much research and have tried many different bags to find the perfect mix for traveling for work or fun. Planes, trains, or automobiles, pick your transportation and I can tell you my favorite travel bag. This always was one of the worst parts, my dog used to freak out when he would see me pull out my luggage. So here I am trying to be as stealth as possible pulling out my bags so I can start pulling together everything I need. My normal “jump bag” has been disbanded for over a year so my ability to pack in 15 minutes is no longer the case.

Wait where are my travel chargers?

I used to have everything pre-packed for my personal carry-on item and now it’s all been put in different places. Why did I do that? Thankfully I still have the packing list that I used to make sure I checked before I rolled out for my early morning flights as a last-minute check.

As I sat there trying to grasp what I had committed to, I can only imagine what it’s like for parents who are home with their babies to have to be catapulted back to work. I still love the TikTok’s that ask if we are really gonna go back to wearing bras after this is over. Yes, there is a reason why my camera is above a certain point, and it is probably because I am not wearing a bra. Anywho, needless to say, I had a mild panic attack with the whole thing…Hence the apology pardon the pause. Or maybe I’m not sorry since you should always do what is best for you in your life. Sooo did I make it? Guess you will have to see how it all turned out. Till the next post, cheers!
